Pastor Joon Lee was appointed to Mountain View UMC on July 1, 2021.
Pastor Joon was born in South Korea and grew up with a Buddhist upbringing. During his time in the United States of America he studied Christianity and served numerous English-speaking churches. He found himself living in the presence of diversity and believes in a deeply caring and life-affirming God.
He lives his life with the conviction that human beings are created in God’s image and are endowed by their God with intrinsic dignity. This is the good news that he preaches.
Two passages from the Bible are the basis of his vision of the Christian Ministry. “God created human beings in the image and likeness of God” and “If you oppress poor people, you insult the God who made them; but kindness shown to them is an act of worship” from Proverbs 14: 31. He believes that God sent him to serve the community of Pine Bush, and make it a better place where any human being without distinction is respected and cared for as an image of God.
He is married to Sunny Lee, who is a therapeutic recreation specialist. They have two sons, Jonathan and Nathan, and a daughter (Eunsol, married to Cris Dizon) and a granddaughter, Emma from Eunsol and Cris, is one year old.
